UPA Riverina Murray Region is a not for profit provider of aged care services, operating eight retirement villages, six aged care hostels and providing home care packages across southern NSW and the border.
Gumleigh Gardens had a resident who was suffering from dementia. Due to the condition, the patient was noisy and causing disruption and unsettling other residents. To reduce the impact on other residents of Gumleigh Gardens, they were looking for a solution to reduce the sound escaping from the patient’s room and a solution that could be retro-fitted.
Gumleigh Gardens came to Avenue Interior Systems searching for an answer. We had not worked on a project like this before. In conjunction with our knowledge and our acoustic engineer, we created a solution that worked effectively with the double glazed windows and acoustic doors seals installed by another provider.
We provided Gumleigh Gardens with large white sheets of Calando Panel which the client was able to cut to fit the wall space available easily. The white was unobtrusive and blended nicely into the surrounds as to not agitate the resident.
The white Calando panel was used to cover some of the walls and the door.
The results were above and beyond expectations. The application of our acoustic products has created a quieter, more peaceful residence for the other residents and a more comfortable work environment for staff.
