Noise solution for press conference venue
The Challenge
Avenue Interior Systems recently had the enjoyable task of turning a concrete bunker into a presentable, acoustically optimal venue that would be suitable for press conferences.
The bunker was a large space with high hard ceilings and hard floors, which reflected and echoed every sound made in the room. This made conversations nearly impossible and meant that audio and video recordings were of very poor quality.
Not only did the project require an acoustic solution that would turn the cavernous space into something acoustically sound, but it also had to meet strict brand and aesthetic guidelines set out by Avenue’s client organisation
The Avenue Solution
This style of the project is perfect for Avenue’s Calando Panel. The product is 100% polyester with high absorbent properties, and is available in many thicknesses: 25 mm, 50 mm, 75mm, and 100 mm. It’s also easily customisable by cutting, colouring or printing the standard white panels.
The Avenue team installed 25 mm thick white panels on the walls and ceiling of the space. The panels were custom cut to size in Avenue’s factory to ensure the neatest possible application for the client.
All the ceiling panels and the majority of the wall panels were plain white, with the client’s logo printed on three of the wall panels. This was designed to serve as a backdrop behind speakers during press conferences.
When working on a large public space such as a cinema, it’s important to consider factors such as how light will move around the space, the cleanability of the acoustic panels, and of course their acoustic performance.
Results Achieved by Avenue
The application of custom Calando Panels has greatly improved the concrete bunker’s acoustics. The Calando Panels absorb 85% of reflected sound within the space, which means the room is now more usable, and the message being delivered can actually be heard.
