Custom noise control to help children play, learn, and thrive
The Challenge
Carpentaria Kindergarten wanted children in their care to enjoy their day without having to compete with unwanted noise. Yet hard surfaces throughout their play areas created distracting sound bounce, making conversations harder to follow and group time louder than it needed to be.
The teaching team identified that overall noise levels were affecting comfort across learning and play spaces. They sought a practical acoustic solution that would reduce reverberation and support calmer environments for both children and educators.
The Avenue Solution
To ensure the right outcome, Avenue Interior Systems’ Managing Director visited the kindergarten, met with staff, and measured the spaces. This gave the team a better understanding of how each room was used, allowing them to recommend an acoustic solution suited to the centre’s day-to-day needs.
To reduce sound reflection and improve acoustic comfort, Avenue Interior Systems installed 34 Calando Acoustic Panels on ceilings throughout the centre.
The specification included:
- 25 mm thick acoustic panels in white
- Panels sized at 2400 mm x 1200 mm, trimmed on site for a precise fit
- NRC 0.85 performance, absorbing up to 85% of reflected sound
- Group 1 Fire Rating for added safety
- All adhesives and installation materials supplied
The Calando Acoustic Panels provided effective sound absorption while integrating seamlessly into the kindy’s existing spaces.

Results Achieved by Avenue
With the acoustic panels in place, teachers, children, and parents have notice many improvements. There has been a noticeable reduction in overall noise levels across the kindy’s play and learning areas. Both teachers and children now enjoy quieter group times and clearer communication.
The centre’s improved acoustic comfort supports focus and wellbeing for all, and the Calando Panels will form a durable, long-term solution that’s designed to perform reliably over time.
